Henrietta Cecelia King married Edgar “Cakes” Wheeler on February 17, 1931. From this union, ten children were born:  Donald, Joseph, Francis, Daniel, Layton, Michael, Julius Nathaniel (died in infancy), Julius Ricardo, Ilene and Rosalind.  Affectionately known as “Shorty,” Henrietta was employed as a housekeeper at D.C. General Hospital over 20 years until her retirement.  Edgar retired from RIS paper company (formerly, R.P. Andrews) after many years.  Henrietta was a lifelong and devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church where she served in many clubs and organizations.  She and Edgar loved travelling, dancing and socializing, particularly with the Elks Lodge where they were members.  Henrietta was a fantastic cook.  Whether preparing delicate cream filled pastries or a southern spread of fried chicken and mean greens, you could count on requesting second and third helpings!  Henrietta’s cooking savvy was lovingly passed on to her children resulting in several family catering businesses that continue today.
